The Bronco is the second Ford to make this list, but not without merit. If you like taking your dog on off-road adventures, the Bronco is one of the best picks. While it falls short of other midsize SUVs in comfort, quietness and fuel efficiency, few others can match its off-road capability. Only the rival Jeep Wrangler comes close, but we give the Bronco the nod for multiple reasons.

The Ford Bronco is more comfortable than the Jeep Wrangler, with a more relaxed and supportive seating position that makes it easy to cover the miles. The Bronco is also roomier up front, with more headroom, legroom and hip room for driver and passenger, but it’s tighter than the Wrangler in back. Your pup probably won’t mind the discrepancy (for reference, the Jeep offers about 2 inches more legroom), even if your human companions feel slighted. And finally, we find the Bronco simply more civilized for daily driving thanks to its sharper steering, softer ride, and reduced noise compared to its competitor from Jeep.

Like the F-150, you can also get the Bronco with vinyl flooring to make for easy cleanup when your dogs clamber out of the lake straight into the car. The rubber option is also more widely available throughout the lineup and doesn’t require a special dealer order. Both the Bronco and Wrangler feature drain plugs to remove spills from water bowls, and both offer the option of top-down sunbathing with removable soft tops and hardtops. Note that center console-mounted rear air vents are only offered on four-door models starting in 2025. Earlier years have standard floor-mounted vents.
